Normal service

Will be resumed as soon as etc, etc, etc... Still monkeying around with a redesign here. The new colour scheme didn't go down to well, so I decided to pick a whole new template. Unfortunately this means having to reload the likes of the links sidebar etc, so bear with me here.

  3. Very good, I like the new look. Maybe it is because I didn't have the time to get used to the green one. I especially like that the links are no longer in mixed small and capital letters. Finally readable.
    I discovered your site through Neil Gaiman's journal and so far I like what you're writing.

  5. I like it now even better than the green. Very well laid out.
    I only have one problem. That alien link brings me to a site, which though interesting, has what I think is called dummy software. i.e on opening it, the back button become redundant and I have to start all over again to get back to yours!
    Not good!
    I did once go into the alien site via another link you had provided elsewhere (not on the links menu) and om that occassion, there was no dummy thing involved.
    I had bookmarked that route at the time as it enabled me to navigate beyond and yet back to yours.

  6. How odd - I've checked it myself and it goes to the Alien's main page OK on both Firefox and Explorer. Either a momentary glitch or perhaps more worryingly a browser hijack - do you have Spybot or similar loaded? I had problems with unwanted re-directs for a while until I loaded Ad Aware and Spybot. If anyone else gets this problem let me know.

  7. Hi again,
    By: "That alien link brings me to a site, ..." I meant the Alien site... not some other thing, so I guess that means no browser hijact.
    My problem is getting back out of the site.
    I hate sites that trap in that way. Ok, so I can either go to by bookmarks to relocate you, or if I hadn't done that, then re-do the whole search for your site. Either way, I don't like being trapped!

  8. I do apologise. The back-button hijack is due to a re-direct routine that was included in the site when it was originally built about 3 years ago that checked that folks were using an up-to-date browser. There's a site re-build in progress that will definitely sort the problem out, although how long it will take is anyone's guess (we're running TAO in our spare time, so it depends on spare-time availability).

    If it's any consolation, it only seems to be Internet Explorer that has a problem with it, and you can always click on the arrow to the right of the back-button and skip back a couple of pages that way. Having said that, I run Firefox as my default browser, and it seems intelligent enough to realise that the auto-redirect isn't actually a proper web-page, and will send you back to the proper previous page without a fuss. And it's a much better browser than IE anyhow...

    But still, apologies again. Annoying, I know.

  9. Ariel;
    many thanks for the tip to click on the tiny downward arrow between the back and forward buttons. It does work and is therefore a far better thing to know than consolation.
