Get bent
No, I'm not being rude (who, me?) but am actually making a reference to a rather good blog you should check out, Bent Fabric, written by a friend of my dear chum Lili. I especially direct your attention to the excellent series of skits the lovely Ms Fabric has of the HR department's plans for the Xmas celebrations - enjoy!
I'm am writing to protest about the sacking of Joe Gordon. I worked as a senior bookseller at Waterstone's in Central London for 4 years and still remain friends with many current booksellers and managers. They all appear to have a thorough disdain for the management crew at Brentford, the freebie jaunts abroad they are offered to promote publishers titles and the diktats about stickering books etc that are passed down from the commercial team, hence the resignation of the long standing manager of Hampstead, Francis Cleverdon, who, to my knowledge, was never even asked by his regional manager why he decided to resign after over a decade in the job. I also remember that Waterstone's bags used to have something written about freedom of speech on them, all animals are equal but some are more equal than others I suppose. I and some like minded friends will be organising a visible boycott of waterstone's stores and of Brentford until Mr Gordon is re-instated or offered substantial financial remuneration.
