Following the Biblical rules

Kevin Kelly has some of a Newsweek interview with a man who spent a year trying to follow some seven hundred rules he found in the Bible. I've made the contempt I feel for organised religion in general and those shagwits who persist in applying literal belief to scriptures in particular many times, but this was still pretty interesting stuff. 1. Wow, did he wear clothing of unmixed fibres, not suffer witches to live, stone adulterers to death, and everything? Also, which translation did he use?

Oh, a point of terminology: I think the thing you probably dislike is credal religion and religious institutions (those are usually the most oppressive forms of organised religion). Being organised (in the sense of turning up on time and being able to organise a piss-up in a brewery) is often a good thing. I don't have a problem with any religion that acknowledges that other religions are valid paths to the Divine - it's the ones that claim they have the only truth and everyone else is wrong and will go to hell for believing the wrong thing that drive me nuts.

As a practitioner of the cartoon religion, I thought you'd be interested in this conference.
